Summary
Our client, Drunken Monkey, a renowned family-owned Indian restaurant located in Hamstead Gardens, is seeking to add a talented Chef to their growing team. Drunken Monkey blends traditional Indian flavours with a modern twist, offering a unique dining experience that reflects a fusion of North Indian and West Indian authentic cuisines. With a commitment to using locally sourced ingredients, they pride themselves on providing high-quality meals and exceptional service to their customers.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare and cook high quality food according to menu guidelines.
- Preparing gravies and sauces required for the main meals.
- Planning menus as per the need to of season.
- Examine the workplace to confirm that the services are performed up to the levels.
- Coordinate the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.
- Maintain and uphold the hygiene guidelines by adhering to the principles.
- Observe the food supplies for ensuring a smooth process of services.
- Analyse the recipes to assign prices to menu items, based on food and overhead costs.
- Constantly monitor feedback of customers via front staff and make improvements to service and food accordingly.
- Administering and ensuring a smooth coordination of activities amongst the cooks, kitchen hands and workers engaged in food preparation; hence promoting teamwork.
- Checking the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
- Determining innovative ways how food should be presented and creating decorative food displays.
- Make sure the amount of wastage is very less and is always under control.
- Estimating amounts and costs of required supplies, such as food and ingredients.
- Inspecting supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.
- Monitoring the sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
- Testing the quantity and quality of received products.
- Maintain safety logbooks amid follow its set standards.
- Checking the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
- Checking the quantity and quality of received products.
- Assist recording of production and operational data on specified forms.
- Supervise and assist Cooks and Kitchen Hands as and when needed.
- Adhering to all food safety programs and guidelines of occupational health and safety issues relating to receiving, handling and storage of goods to ensure that stock control is completed in a best rotating manner, which is FIFO to avoid wastage and pilferage, labelled and dated correctly.
- Making sure that the kitchen is hygienic and clean by following the restaurant cleaning procedures which involves using different detergents and sanitizers suitable for benches, equipment, and floor.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
- At least three years experience, especially in Indian Cuisine.
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure with minimum supervision required.
- Good work ethic, an eye for detail and a cheerful personality
- Strong customer service skills.
- A highly motivated team player with the ability to multi-task.
- Active team player to an ability to lead.
- Knowledge of Australian Workplace Safety Standards.
- Be well presented with strong interpersonal skills.
