Overview
The position is funded by and Australian Research Council grant (Discovery Project) held by Professor David Suter. It is a limited term position with an initial appointment of 2.5 years. Subject to grant funds remaining (and the ARC approving carry forward) a limited (up to 6 months) further employment may be available at the end of the initial 2.5 years.
The successful candidate will conduct research in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis in relation to topics such as graph and hypergraph models of data, data complexity, structural properties of graph and hypergraph classes, algorithmic consequences, and applications. As such, the successful candidate must either have a good understanding (or be capable of rapidly obtaining a good understanding) of concepts from discrete mathematics in relation to graph theory, Boolean function theory and related topics. An interest in applying these ideas to areas such as Computer Vision, AI, social network modelling (and related areas) will be a plus: but the candidate must engage with the theoretical aspects of the project.
The position requires a PhD in a related area: Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering, and have an aptitude and demonstrated capability to publish in top ranked avenues in their field of study.
Depending on experience and qualifications, the appointment will commence at AlevA step 6 to AlevB step 1.

Benefits & Remuneration
This full-time, fixed-term position attracts remuneration of $101,332 to $113,918 plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
