The Role
Reporting to the Principal Communication Officer, Media and Communication, you will work as part of a strategic communication team providing advice and services to business units across the Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers. You will work closely with a number of departmental clients and directly contribute to the success of key projects.
Key Accountabilities
- Contribute to the development and implementation of communication and engagement strategies.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with departmental clients, external stakeholders and colleagues across the Media and Communication team.
- Lead the creation and delivery of key communication activities (including email newsletters, web content, presentations, fact sheets, event content, creative copy and other communication deliverables), both independently and as part of a team.
- Ensure all materials and communications comply with accessibility standards and are written in plain English, making them clear and inclusive for diverse audiences
- Contribute to a range of external and internal communications channels and initiatives.
- Provide event management advice and support as required.
To succeed in the role you will be strategic, motivated and results driven with excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and time management. You will have the ability to manage your workload effectively amongst competing priorities and contribute to a positive team culture.
There are no mandatory requirements for this role. However, experience in a similar role would be highly regarded. A relevant qualification in the field of communication, public relations, journalism or marketing or a related field is highly desirable. Travel away from the work location may be required from time to time.
