About the team and the role
The Head of Retail Performance at Sydney Airport will focus on driving retail growth, managing strategic partnerships, and enhancing the passenger experience. You will optimise performance, identify growth initiatives, and ensure operational excellence to meet both short-term and long-term growth targets.
Reporting to the General Manager – Retail Performance & Growth, the Head of Retail Performance leads a multidisciplinary team that covers leasing, performance management, and retailer operations. The Retail team collaborates to implement innovative strategies, maximise satisfaction for retailers and passengers, and ensure commercial success.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Drive growth in non-duty-free retail, own relationships across the full range of retail partners and manage performance to support retailer growth plans.
- Lead strategic planning efforts to define growth initiatives, inform space allocation, airport planning aspects and operational requirements across all non duty-free retail
- Drive data-led decision making to improve retail operations, capture sales and performance insights to enhance passenger needs and experience.
- Monitor operational standards, identify and test initiatives to improve efficiency, and lead safety management for retail operations.
- Own the prospecting and pipeline of potential tenants, negotiate contracts and lead renewals to secure the optimal tenant mix and lead renewals.
- Lead a team of specialists, set performance targets, develop expertise, and foster a results-driven culture.
- Stay ahead of trends, analyse competitors, identify innovative retail opportunities, and leverage industry connections.
- Promote retail technologies, implement data-sharing platforms, and lead digital integration initiatives.
We are seeking a strategic and collaborative team player who excels in a dynamic and high performing environment with a strong focus on delivering exceptional passenger experiences. The ideal candidate is committed to achieving commercial goals while driving measurable outcomes.
With 10 + years’ experience in retail management, you will bring deep understanding and experience with global and local retail partners and have a proven track record of success in travel or high-traffic retail environments. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in business, Marketing or related field.
You will possess deep retail expertise and strong commercial acumen. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to build, lead, and inspire high-performing teams, and excel in stakeholder management and data-driven decision-making. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
