The Office of Industrial Relations is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and proactive administrator who is keen to develop a career in Right to Information and Privacy.Right to Information and Privacy are a small team of specialists, who make decisions to release information requested under the Right to Information Act 2009 and support the diverse regulatory functions of the Office in relation to privacy compliance, including: Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, Electrical Safety Office, Workers’ Compensation Regulator and Industrial Relations.
As the Right to Information and Privacy Officer you will undertake the administrative functions of the team, assisting the team to perform in a high volume, high complexity environment. You will be the first point of contact for access applicants and assist the team in meeting its legislative obligations.
About The Role
This role reports to the Manager, Right to Information and Privacy. Working with limited supervision you will use your administrative experience and skills to support the function of the team as well as exercising some decision making delegations under the Right to Information and Information Privacy Acts.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external clients and contribute effectively to the achievement of the team's outcomes.
- Manage the administration of access application files as the first point of contact, creation of files using the document and case management systems, and referral of matters to appropriate officer;
- Respond to telephone and email enquiries from internal and external stakeholders, providing accurate advice and explaining the legislation in an easy, understandable manner.
- Processing, receipt and reconciliation of financial payments for access applications, generate weekly outstanding debtors report and ensure that all financial and invoices are paid in a timely manner.
- Administrative support of the team, including ordering stationery; meetings coordination; supporting the delivery of training, assisting with on-boarding new starters; records management, including file creation, maintenance and archiving.
- Generate weekly disclosure log report; collate and compile completed disclosure log decisions for publishing; review and monitor content of published disclosure log in line with the RTI Act and ministerial guidelines; and
- Exercise decision making power under the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009 and in accordance with administrative release guidelines.
