About the OPPORTUNITY

Passionate about safety, culture, and continuous improvement? Hazell Bros is looking for an HSE Compliance Advisor to enhance safety practices and champion our Safety First, Always Works culture. Work with our leaders to provide guidance and training on health, safety, and environmental compliance. Reporting to our General Manager of HSEQ, you will oversee day-to-day HSE and compliance operations for various sites across Tasmania, South Australia and Queensland.

The ROLE

  • Leads a culture of Safety 1st Always Works and environmental responsibility on our Project sites
  • Assists project teams in integrating safety and environmental requirements throughout the planning and execution phases
  • Facilitates the recording, review and improvement of HSE related documentation with both internal and external parties
  • Provides input and advice to matters relating to HSE in pre-tender assessment as requested
  • Manage internal & external auditing schedules
  • Lead internal management system audits and facilitate effective external audits pertaining to ISO and Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner certification
  • Lead incident and near miss investigations
  • Assists in maintaining HSEQ management system procedure, databases, and registers

About YOU

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety (essential) or equivalent working experience
  • Lead Auditor qualifications and experience in implementing audit schedules
  • Lead ICAM Investigator qualification (highly desirable)
  • Proficient in stakeholder engagement, delivering clear and accessible guidance while providing expert advice and coaching on HSEQ best practices
  • Knowledge of management systems such as Environmental Management Systems (AS/NZS ISO 14001), Safety Management Systems (AS/NZS ISO 45001) and Quality Management System (AS/NZS ISO 9001)
  • Practical knowledge of regulatory governance, legislative requirements, codes of practice and compliance requirements
  • Sound understanding of Microsoft Office software packages
  • Full Australian Drivers Licence
