Position Title: Project Coordinator - Indigenous Skills & Employment Program (ISEP)

Department: Community Services

Reports To: CEO

Direct Reports: ISEP Team

Key Internal Working Relationships: Chief Executive Officer, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, ISEP & Other Corporation Employees

Key External Working Relationships: P rogram support providers, General community, Aboriginal Elders and families, Albany Regional Prison & Pardelup Prison Farm (Department of Justice), government agencies, community service providers, training institutions, industry stakeholders

Location: This position is based in Albany. Travel may be required throughout the region of SAC

Employment Terms:

Hours of Work:

36.5 hours per week.

Duration of contract:

This is a Fixed Term appointment that will end 30 June 2028.

This position is supported by grant funding, and as such, it is contingent upon the grant's continuation. Should the grant funding be reduced or terminated, the position may be subject to change, reduction in hours, or termination.

Wages:

In line with Level 5.1 of the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award 2010 including, the option to salary sacrifice.

Superannuation guarantee paid as legislated (currently 11.5%).

About the Role

This role will directly see delivery of the Albany Prevention and Prison to Work Program under the Indigenous Employment and Skills Program funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA). Additionally, the role ensures that reporting duties, data entry, and record-keeping are conducted efficiently in accordance with the funding requirements.

About You

You are a motivated and committed person that has:

Project Management Skills

  • Ability to lead, support, and motivate staff working in complex contexts;
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate a project work plan;
  • Strong data and financial acumen and ability to oversee complex shared-measurement systems;
  • An ability to manage time effectively and prioritise competing demands;
  • Effective research and analysis skills; and
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Communication and interpersonal skills

  • High level of people skills;
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills;
  • High level of leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively as a team member;
  • Ability to effectively engage and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated capacity to deliver activities and support services that meet the needs of Aboriginal people who have experienced periods of incarceration;
  • Experience in liaising with community and government stakeholders; and
  • Effective problem solving and negotiating skills.

Other Knowledge and Experience

Demonstrated knowledge of best practice approaches to working alongside people who have complex needs and have experienced periods of incarceration/ engaged with the Department of Justice;

  • Knowledge of specialist services to support individuals and their families who have experienced periods of incarceration including links to skill development and employment;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the social barriers and issues that impact the lives of Aboriginal people;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Closing the Gap targets;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide services that foster self-determination;
  • High level understanding of cultural responsiveness; and
  • Relevant technology and software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirably:

  • A relevant qualification in social work, psychology, community welfare or a relevant human service / mental health area;
  • Knowledge of local Aboriginal community and culture would be an advantage;
  • An understanding of culturally informed approaches relating to Noongar people of the Great Southern and their culture;
  • An understanding of approaches aligning to holistic healing; and
  • Experience with Data Exchange (DEX).

Mandatory

You must be prepared to undergo:

  • A Prior Offender History Check.
  • A Working with Children Check.

Key Responsibilities

Continuing the development and implementation of the Project Management Plan (PMP) specifying activity details, deliverables, and timeframes for delivery and measures of achievement. This requires:

  • Engaging with NIAA to ensure the PMP is developed in accordance with the project evaluation methodology
  • Providing milestone reports, as per the Grant Agreement
  • Implementing key activities in the PMP in a timely manner
  • Submitting six monthly Performance Reports and Data
  • Submitting annual Activity Work Plan Reports
  • Maintain connections with project partners
  • Maintain connections with key stakeholders
  • Undertake and document community consultation

In alignment with the Implementation Plan, and with the support of staff, achieve the following medium term outcomes (6-18 months):

  • Engage with Albany Regional Prison and Pardelup Prison Farm and inmates to promote the SAC Prevention and Prison to Work Program:
  • Identify participants and map out pathway;
  • Accept referrals into the program; and
  • Continue to promote the program.
  • Deliver sessions to promote the SAC Prevention and Prison to Work Program in the community;
  • Maintain engagement with key stakeholders, employers and training providers;
  • Deliver administration of cultural case management;
  • Delivery of On Country release and prevention program;
  • Delivery of lateral violence strategy;
  • Delivery of skills development and work experience; and
  • Deliver employment job placement support.

In alignment with the Implementation Plan, and with the support of staff, achieve the following long term outcomes (18-48 months):

  • Delivery of PSAC meetings, administration and activities;
  • Maintain engagement with key stakeholders, employers and training providers;
  • Continue promotion of the program via established pathways
  • Delivery of cultural case management
  • Delivery of prevention and collaboration strategy actions
  • Delivery of later violence strategy actions
  • Delivery of skill development and work experience
  • Delivery of On Country release, connection to Country prevention program
  • Delivery of employment job placement support

Culture

  • Work within SAC’s established safety maturity framework to improve SAC’s position on the safety maturity curve.
  • Lead and demonstrate the SAC’s values in all areas of work activity, promoting a positive workplace culture.
