Stirlings to Coast Farmers is a grower-led, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to delivering valuable research, development, and extension (RD&E) to ensure the long-term profitability and sustainability of local farming businesses.
Our membership base stretches across a 150km radius from Albany, covering Frankland River to Wellstead. Most of our members run mixed operations, with barley, canola, and wheat as primary crops, and sheep and cattle the dominant livestock enterprises.
Our qualified team of nine brings together expertise in cropping, livestock, ag-tech, and communications. We offer a supportive, collaborative work culture and are committed to ongoing professional development for all staff.

About the Role
As the Research & Development Coordinator, you’ll lead Stirlings to Coast Farmers’ on-farm trials and research with the aim of delivering practical, evidence-based outcomes for farmers in our region. Working closely with the Trials Officer, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of project management, on-farm trial delivery, ensuring each project is relevant, scientifically sound, and focused on adoption. You’ll be able to confidently deliver key research learnings to local farmers, both in the paddock and in more formal presentations.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the planning and delivery of funded RD&E projects that provide real value to local growers.

Collaborate closely with farmer members to understand local research priorities.

Manage project timelines and budgets in partnership with the CEO.

Contribute to the development of new research proposals and grant applications.

Work with our communications team to confidently extend research findings and promote adoption of innovations.

Ensure research quality and credibility through robust design, implementation, and evaluation.

Build and maintain partnerships with key agricultural stakeholders across WA.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
-
Tertiary qualifications in Agricultural Science, Agribusiness, or a related field.

Strong understanding of WA broadacre mixed farming systems.

Demonstrated experience in managing agricultural trials, including trial design, data collection and statistical analysis.

Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with farmers.

Proven project management and reporting skills.

Self-motivated with strong initiative and a collaborative approach.

Willingness to work flexibly around seasonal demands.

Current unrestricted WA driver’s licence (or equivalent).
Desirable:
-
Postgraduate qualifications in agricultural research.

Experience with data/trial management software and GIS systems.
-
Hands-on experience with small plot research equipment (e.g., seeding/spraying).

Industry experience and networks in WA’s Great Southern.

ChemCert accreditation.
-
WA Heavy Vehicle Licence (or equivalent).
Remuneration
A competitive salary package of $85,000–$105,000 (depending on experience) is on offer, plus:
