About the role
Classify inpatient episodes of care using the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) and The Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) according to the Australian Coding Standards and Queensland Health requirements for Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals. The Senior Clinical Coder is acknowledged as having high level clinical coding skills & knowledge across a broad range of specialties through a minimum of 2 years (full-time) coding experience in a hospital setting with exposure to various levels of complexity and specialties. Undertake auditing activities, data verification and clinical liaison to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of inpatient morbidity data at both Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals. Provide support to other clinical coding staff through advice, guidance and mentoring.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Employ a range of advanced skills to code complex cases and act as a mentor for less experienced clinical coders.
- Liaise with clinicians to clarify documentation in the clinical record to assist in timely and accurate code assignment at both Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals.
- Assist in providing clinical documentation and clinical classification advice internally and externally ensuring appropriate legislation, policies and procedures are adhered to.
