The Role
The APS 6 Maintenance Services Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex materiel logistics maintenance support work within an integrated workforce. They will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes.
They will provide detailed materiel logistics maintenance support, technical professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development. The APS 6 Maintenance Services Manager will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement relating to complex maintenance issues. They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders' needs and expectations to achieve Defence outcomes.
The APS 6 Maintenance Services Manager will have the responsibility for managing a team in the development and contribution to strategies, plans and budgets in support of Defence materiel. They will also be responsible for the performance management and administration of personnel working within the Maintenance Services Team.

The JLU - SQ primary site is within RAAF Base Amberley with satellite sites at Meeandah, Wallangarra, Oakey, Canungra, Cabarlah and Enoggera.

They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures, and provide technical and policy advice in relation to the equipment and platforms they sustain.
The ideal candidate will also be able to coach, lead a team, and be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows. They are expected to be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others within a work unit.
They may exercise the associated people and financial responsibilities to achieve work unit outcomes. The ideal candidate needs to be an excellent communicator, someone who can plan and execute work collaboratively with contractors, program offices, fleet managers and external service providers.
