The key duties of the position include
The Role
This role is to support the Executive Director Data & Analytics and the APS 6 lead Business Intelligence Officer. The APS 4 Business Intelligence Officer will be responsible for providing the day-to-day operational, procedural, administrative and business support.
You will be expected to:
  • Coordinate and deliver administrative and financial support to the Branch Executive.
  • Engage and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders (including industry) to ensure the timely and appropriate administrative assistance and advice.
  • Support and coordinate documentation, requirements and scheduling of Branch representation on Defence Committees.
  • Conduct responsibilities of a unit security officer and Objective workgroup coordinator for records management.
  • Support Branch workforce management.

About our Team
The Data and Analytics Branch supports the delivery of a range of major data projects and strategic priorities across Defence. This is done through co-design and co-delivery of data platforms, products and insights across a range of use cases.
The branch consists of multidisciplinary teams who work together to deliver joint outcomes for the enterprise. These teams are made up of data architects, data engineers, data analysts, data scientists and subject matter experts.
The Branch is a dynamic and operationally focus team that enables groups and services across Defence. It conducts regular industry and academic engagements to support ongoing capability management and strategic advice to senior leadership across Defence.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate for the APS 4 Business Intelligence Officer will have the following attributes:
  • Has (or the ability to acquire) a very good working knowledge of Defence security, record management and travel processes and software.
  • Has strong administrative support skills, with a good understanding of how to manage competing and varied demands in a busy work environment.
  • A positive approach to their work and others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively by delivering information clearly in a variety of formats.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams by using great interpersonal skills that enable you to speak up and engage with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to think ahead by scanning current and emerging priorities, anticipating and identifying the criticality of tasks, and managing outcomes appropriately.
  • Exercise discretion by using good judgement and maintaining confidentiality.
