The SES Planning Unit is responsible for the development and coordination of planning and performance management activities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the SES. The unit is also responsible for risk management, continuous improvement, and lessons management.Please refer to role profile for full details.
Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Provide high-level strategic leadership and direction for the ongoing management of lessons and continuous improvement.
- Lead, manage and coordinate analysis activities and work with key stakeholders through workshops and meetings to support continuous improvement.
- Build, consult and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders to support efficient processes for the successful initiation of action plans to address recommendations, insights and the development of learning.
- Provide strategic advice to senior management regarding continuous improvement and lessons management best practice.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring and support to teams to promote continuous improvement in lessons management processes and procedures.
- Manage, monitor and provide progress reporting on the status of actions, recommendations and projects of work.
- Prepare, evaluate and review complex reports, briefs, submissions, and other correspondence on issues and initiatives in accordance with departmental requirements.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
- Knowledge, experience or qualifications in lessons management and/or continuous improvement would be highly desirable.
- This role supports SES operational activity through representation in either an SES Operations Centre, State Disaster Coordination Centre, SES Regional Operations Centre's and/or Incident Control Centre's and/or Emergency Operations Centre's, as required, to capture observations.
- This may require work outside of normal hours including weekends, working extended hours and may include deployment to other parts of the state.
