The Limestone Coast Local Health Network invites applications for the position of Consultant Anaesthetist at Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service and Millicent and District Hospital and Health Service. Role Overview:

As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will:
  • Deliver expert pre and peri-operative anaesthetic care for both surgical and obstetric patients.
  • Provide crucial input into the management of patients in the High Dependency Unit and during emergency situations as required.
  • Serve as a senior member of the anaesthetic team, offering leadership and contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Engage in the education and training of junior doctors, interns, and medical students, and participate in teaching and training activities.
  • Contribute to Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives, including clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and research activities.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical services of the highest standard, demonstrating leadership and a commitment to exceptional patient care.
  • Adhere to Regional, Hospital, and departmental policies and the professional standards set by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
  • Actively engage in teaching and mentoring of trainee medical officers, interns, medical students, and where appropriate, nursing and allied health staff.
  • Participate in clinical audit and quality management activities, focusing on safety and risk management.
  • Contribute to research and continuous medical education activities.
What We're Looking For:
  • Qualifications: Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registerable with the Medical Board of Australia as Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration. Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent, with appropriate Specialist Qualifications.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in contemporary anaesthetic practice, reflecting a deep understanding of modern techniques and procedures.
  • Skills: Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities at both clinical and individual levels. Strong commitment to quality management, effective communication, and adaptability to change.
