A Day in the Life The Medical Affairs Medical Director (MD) provides cross-functional leadership and medical guidance in the formation, refinement and execution of the medical strategies related to product portfolio development and management, service development and expansion, and all customer experience plans where the medical input is crucial to ensure success. He/She is also responsible for clinical and strategic leadership of medical affairs activities regarding launch readiness and KOL management among others.

In this role, the Director of Medical Affairs develops and ensures the execution of the strategic medical plans always in alignment with therapy innovation, customer marketing and regional business teams.

Responsibilities may include the following:

​Utilize advanced subject matter expertise to provide medical input to various functions, including Global Strategy, Portfolio Management, Business Development, Innovation, Marketing, and other Diabetes organizational units to facilitate insightful decision-making and enable achievement of business objectives.

Work in conjunction with R&D and Marketing upstream teams to devise and implement high value strategies for pipeline expansion, acceleration and product life cycle development.

Maintain a deep understanding of the science behind our products

Ensure that effective objective value propositions are developed and articulated for Medtronic diabetes technologies to stakeholders (patients, health care providers, payers, government agencies, health technology assessment organizations, public) through appropriate channels.

Collaborate with the Customer Marketing team to improve current customer journeys, developing new service offerings and contributing actively to the definition of the needed medical strategies to strengthen and expand the value-added service footprint in APAC, with specific focus on the Digital Health space, among others.

Collaborate within the Office of Medical Affairs to ensure the Evidence Generation Plan and activities are supporting regional needs (ie. Regulatory approval, reimbursement, and dissemination).

Co-own the evidence generation roadmap, from development to execution, overseeing the design, implementation, and analysis of clinical studies aiming at supporting the commercialization of our therapies.

Collaborate with other functions in developing the strategy and execution of conventions, forums, symposia educational content and scientific education programming meetings for promoting product & service understanding and awareness.

Develop and execute tactical Medical Affairs strategies related to external partner management, medical education, evidence generation and scientific communications.

Enhance and build partnerships and advocacy with KOLs, payers, legislators and the diabetes community in the APAC region through interpersonal relationships and thoughtful collaboration

Represent the clinical/medical voice of Medtronic Diabetes to professional societies, payers and health ministries, particularly in the APAC region

Develop competitive intelligence in the Diabetes product space

Enable a positive and collaborative team environment, interacting with regional and global clinical, scientific and marketing teams.

Develop and execute tactical Medical Affairs strategies related to external partner management, medical education, evidence generation and scientific communications.

Enhance and build partnerships and advocacy with KOLs, payers, legislators and the diabetes community in the APAC region through interpersonal relationships and thoughtful collaboration

Represent the clinical/medical voice of Medtronic Diabetes to professional societies, payers and health ministries, particularly in the APAC region

Job Qualifications & Experience

Required:

MD or DO with Diabetes & technology expertise.

10+ experience in the Diabetes field, 5+ years in medical practice.

Comprehensive knowledge of the national and international market and competition

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with successful presentation capabilities as demonstrated by several oral communications in scientific congresses.

Preferred:

Clinical trials experience as a Principal Investigator and lead

MBA or MHA (master of health care administration).

Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and working in matrix organizations.

International & Muliticultural experience.

Previous experience working with a pharma or medtech organization.
