Mills Street specialise in commercial fitout and shopfitting and are partnered with many of Australia's leading brands across franchise, retail, and hospitality sectors. We are currently have multiple positions for experienced persons for in shopfitting, commercial joinery/carpentry, and commercial fitout to join our team and assist with our continued growth of commercial and shopfitting projects.

Carpenter/Shopfitter/Cabinetmaker (site based - Hobart)

Site Foreman (site based - Hobart)

Factory Foreman - Joinery (factory based - Devonport)

Shopfitter/Cabinetmaker (factory based - Devonport)

Casual truck driver (leaving from Devonport factory)

About the role

If you’re a hands-on on-site leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and knows how to get the best out of a team, this role is for you.

You’ll be responsible for leading and motivating a team of skilled tradespeople, ensuring jobs run on time and to the highest quality. With strong support from management, you’ll have the autonomy to drive efficiency, maintain smooth operations, and make an impact from day one.

Qualifications & experience

  • Be trade qualified in shopfitting, carpentry or cabinet making
  • Be experienced in commercial building and/or shopfitting
  • Proven leadership experience in a similar role
  • Ability to problem-solve and keep projects on track
  • Have demonstrated experience interpreting plans
  • Be experienced in managing relationships within a team environment
  • Have your own hand/cordless tools
  • Full drivers license and your own transport
  • Demonstrated on-site trade/installation skills
  • Be self-motivated with the demonstrated ability to take initiative in a fast paced environment

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Ability to set put projects to architectural/designers plans.
  • Be hands on with a variety of installation works including carpentry, cabinetry, framing, and finish works.
  • Participate in identifying and problem solving any trade specific install issues and provide alternatives and solutions with the on-site team
  • Adhere to company policies regarding all aspects of quality assurance to ensure high standards are met throughout all projects
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to meet the scheduled project outcomes and to motivate fellow employees and sub-trades to get the job done on time and with high quality
  • Work with management to undertake works against construction timelines with a focus on meeting project deadlines
