We now continue to thrive and grow through iconic businesses including Story Bridge Adventure Climb and the Manly Wharf Precinct in Sydney.
We are currently seeking a Group Event Manager to work closely with the Director of Sales where you will be responsible for overseeing and leading the venue planning team. In this role you will focus on the successful execution of all events held at Howard Smith Wharves. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will manage team workflow and foster high performing culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the venue planning team, ensuring consistent performance and professional growth.
- Assign event planning responsibilities, monitor workloads, and ensure team members meet deadlines and client expectations.
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and training sessions.
- Oversee and partake in the planning and execution of all events, ensuring alignment with client goals and venue capabilities.
- Oversee and guide the approval event layouts, production schedules, staffing plans, and logistics.
- Serve as a resource for planners regarding escalated issues and high-profile or complex events.
- Track and report event outcomes, client satisfaction, and departmental performance.
- Ensure effective use and maintenance of event management platforms, including training staff, keeping systems updated, and maximising software capabilities.
- Monitor invoicing and debtor reports to ensure financial efficiency.
What we are looking for:
- Previous demonstrated experience in venue planning management, including leadership experience
- Demonstrated success managing large-scale events
- Experience implementing and managing event management systems or software platforms
- Strong logistical, analytical, and organisational skills.
- Proven experience in supplier negotiations and contract management.
