Senior Project Officer - Western Grasslands Cultural Heritage Management

The Senior Project Officer, Western Grasslands Cultural Heritage will work in partnership with Traditional Owners and integrate Aboriginal cultural heritage protection and management considerations into fire management planning for Western Grasslands Reserves.
This is a unique Forest Fire Operations Division opportunity to lead Cultural Heritage planning for the Western Grasslands Fire Management program and work in partnership with Traditional Owner Groups. The Western Grasslands Reserve is a key element of the Melbourne Strategic Assessments (MSA) Project and will ultimately cover 15,000 hectares to the west of Werribee. This role will be an essential part of a highly dynamic, collaborative, outcomes-focused team, and will suit someone with strong technical, communication and project management skills.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
* An appropriate qualification or demonstrated experience in Cultural Heritage Management, Archaeology or Anthropology, and appropriate Geographical Information System (GIS) skills or ability to acquire these.
* Knowledge of, and experience in the identification, protection, and management of Aboriginal and historic heritage places, objects, and values is highly desirable.
* An understanding of relevant Aboriginal cultural heritage and historic heritage legislation and DEECA's Pupangarli Marnmarnepu Strategy.
This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2027. The work location for this position is Knoxfield with hybrid work arrangements available.
