PQE Partners are representing a high-profile retail client seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Legal Counsel to join their team. This is a rare opportunity to play a key advisory role in a global, fast-paced environment, partnering closely with business leaders across Australia and New Zealand and collaborating with colleagues around the world.Key Responsibilities
As Legal Counsel, you will act as a trusted advisor across a wide range of matters, including:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad spectrum of commercial agreements, such as consultancy, supplier, licensing, marketing, and distribution contracts
- Advising on legal issues relating to retail operations, including commercial property, employment, consumer protection, privacy, intellectual property, and competition law
- Providing guidance on privacy and data protection, including investigations and risk mitigation
- Contributing to business-critical compliance and governance programs, such as modern slavery and packaging reporting obligations
- Assisting with disputes and regulatory matters, both internally and externally
- Partnering with global legal teams on strategic cross-border initiatives
You will ideally have:
- 6+ years’ PQE gained from a top-tier law firm and/or in-house in a complex, multinational business
- Strong experience in retail property leasing is essential
- Further experience in commercial contracts and general advisory work, ideally within a retail, fashion or e-commerce environment
- A pragmatic, business-oriented approach with the ability to balance risk with commercial outcomes
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders across a matrixed business
- A collaborative, proactive mindset with a genuine interest in innovation and operational improvement
