About the Role
As Group Manager – Wind Asset Maintenance, you will lead the strategic and day-to-day operations of the wind asset maintenance program across Australia. You’ll oversee O&M contractors, internal engineering teams, and drive performance optimisation of a growing fleet of wind farms. This senior role is accountable for ensuring reliability, regulatory compliance, and commercial performance across all operating assets, while driving innovation in asset management practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance and performance strategy for operating wind assets across the Australian portfolio
- Manage contractor performance, including OEMs, ensuring safety, uptime and compliance
- Collaborate with commercial, grid and engineering teams to align maintenance plans with broader business objectives
- Develop long-term asset life strategies including condition monitoring, retrofit plans and digital optimisation
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, environmental and technical regulations
- Oversee operational risk, fault response, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead major outage planning and execution including crane, turbine, and substation scopes
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and reporting for wind operations and maintenance
- Contribute to investment case development for repowering and asset upgrades
- Represent the organisation in stakeholder meetings, industry forums, and technical panels
- Provide strong leadership to a small team and support knowledge-sharing across sites
- Collaborate with global technical experts and share lessons learned across regions
- Champion a culture of accountability, transparency and innovation in wind operations
- Degree in electrical, mechanical or renewable energy engineering (or related discipline)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in wind farm O&M, including team or contractor management
- Proven leadership experience in utility-scale wind asset operations or field service delivery
- Deep understanding of wind turbine technologies, failure modes and performance optimisation
- Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills, including HSE and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with Australian grid and market operations highly regarded
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex issues into commercial terms
- Executive-level role with national scope and real impact on clean energy delivery
