About the role
The Senior Speech Pathologist will coordinate the work of a number of professionals and/or other staff. The staff coordinated need not necessarily be in the same discipline as the leader. The senior Speech pathologist will oversee the operations of the Rehabilitation Service comprising of professional and technical staff engaged in the
provision of Rehabilitative services to residential clients. Persons at this Level are expected to have wide experience in their professional field. They perform a variety of clinical tasks of a novel, complex or critical nature.
The Senior Speech Pathologist requires and is able to demonstrate substantial or higher knowledge in a particular professional discipline or field and the exercise of independent professional judgment to resolve complex problems or issues. They may guide and oversee the work of Level 2 Professionals or below.
Based at the Central office, you are required to visit Residential sites and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of management, allied health, nursing, care workers, fitness and other health professionals in delivering services to support Better for life framework in providing services to older adults living in residential aged care.
The role involves:
- Demonstrated high level knowledge and skills regarding functional unit priorities and goals and the ability to translate vision into practice.
- Interpretation of organisational and broader health context priorities and directions and integration into service delivery.
- Contributing to and building community capacity through lead involvement in regional and professional networks.
- Demonstrated understanding of the health and care industry and the interface between the functional unit and other service providers/stakeholders.
- The formulation, implementation, coordination and evaluation of projects on an ongoing basis.
- Ensuring the outcome of work of moderate – significant scope and /or complexity.

The successful candidate will have the following qualification, experience and skills:
- A Bachelor or Master Degree in Speech Pathology or relevant Allied Health discipline
- Membership with Speech Pathology Australia and the Professional Self-Regulation Program
- Relevant experience in leading and managing a team.
- Have insight into speech pathologists' work in residential aged care.
- Relevant experience in working with a healthy ageing approach.
- Ability to model a positive, professional service that is responsive to organisational and client needs.
