Primary objective
Support the Information Management Services function within the Archive and Disposal Section to provide a quality, cost
effective records and information management service by providing confidential, day-to-day client services and following
established procedures and processes within service agreements that meet the needs of the client.
Context statement
Information Management provides best practice advice and records management services to Northern Territory
Government client agencies. Structured into several work streams, a wide range of services are delivered, including records
management, help desk services, records appraisal, sentencing and disposal, and training development and delivery and
Freedom of Information.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide sound expert advice and services to clients regarding storage, disposal, lending, retention, recording and transfer
of records, including the appraisal and sentencing of records in accordance with authorised records disposal schedules.
2. Assist in the coordination of record transfers into interim and permanent storage.
3. Undertake and support the disposal of records in accordance with NTG Record Management Standards and authorised
records disposal schedules.
4. Ensure details of records transferred or destroyed are well documented including amendment to agency control records
reflecting disposal action.
5. Action requests for records from secondary storage and undertake complex investigative searches and provide research
support.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Previous experience managing and creating records in compliance with relevant standards, principles and procedures.
2. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, ensuring accuracy and maintaining strict confidentiality.
3. Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to provide accurate and clear instruction and advice with a focus on
customer service.
4. Proven ability to use initiative, work with limited supervision and identify and organise work priorities to support a
responsive client service.
5. Previous experience in providing research support and responding to complex investigative search requests.
6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical
practice, accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the organisational structure and functions of the NT Police Force and NT Fire and Emergency Services.
