About the Role
We are currently looking to appoint an IST Infrastructure Engineer to join the IST Infrastructure team, reporting to the Senior IST Infrastructure Engineer. This role ensures the stability, scalability, and security of firewall, servers, storage, and cloud platforms, providing critical support for daily operations.
The primary responsibilities include:
- address and resolve any infrastructure related issues which arise including server failures, system outages or hardware malfunctions, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
- respond promptly to Service Desk tickets, system alerts or user-reported issues
- ensure the daily backups of IT/OT systems are completed successfully and test the restore procedure to ensure data integrity
- apply patches and firmware updates to servers, operating systems, devices and firewalls
- monitor resource usage and plan for future capacity requirements
- update internal documentation including system configurations and procedures for troubleshooting and incident resolution
Qualifications and Skills:
- minimum of five (5) years working with IT/OT infrastructure, preferably in the mining industry;
- strong knowledge of networking concepts and technologies
- knowledge of ITIL
- experience in virtualization, cloud computing, and storage technologies
- experience with Firewall and SDWAN in IT/OT Infrastructure
- experience with IT Hybrid environments
- experience in Microsoft 365 such as Exchange Online, SharePoint, Azure, Intune and Entra
- experience with Veeam and Veeam 365 backup solutions
- familiarity with security protocols and tools
- good communication and collaboration skills
- experience with Service Desk systems like ServiceNow
- experience configuring monitoring systems like OpsManager
- familiarity with IT/OT environments
- ability to work in a dynamic environment
The following qualification/s are considered desirable for this position:
- relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- certifications from Microsoft, VMWare and firewall providers
