Due to significant growth, we are looking for 2 x Technical Officers – Design to join our team, commencing from 1 July 2025 . Flexible working arrangements may be considered if required and relocation assistance can be provided if applicants are not currently residing in the South West region.

About the role:

The Design & Survey Technical Design Team plays an integral role within the Infrastructure and Environment Directorate at the City of Busselton. As a Technical Officer – Design, you will work closely with other teams to provide designs and estimates for infrastructure renewal, upgrades and pre-planning works. You will also contribute to the development of standards, specifications and policies relating to infrastructure development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertake traffic investigations, select treatments and prepare plans for consultation, approval and construction.
  • Provide information to internal and external stakeholders and the public as a liaison point on nominated projects.
  • Liaise with contractors and consultants to progress nominated design and survey projects.
  • Contribute to and participate in corporate initiatives and organisational process improvement.

What you will need to succeed:

As a successful applicant, you will align with our values and will ideally hold a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or demonstrated experience in the areas of roads, drainage and civil infrastructure. Ideally you will also be able to demonstrate;

  • Experience in the use of Microstation and Microsoft Office suite and knowledge or experience in 12D Software (desirable but not essential).
  • Ability to liaise and work with multi-disciplined teams and work autonomously to achieve project outcomes within agreed time frames.
  • Knowledge and experience of estimating, budgeting and project administration to enable cost-effective operation within budgets.
  • Currently have or be able to obtain a National Police Clearance, White Card or Blue Card.
