What you’ll do:
Based in Perth, The Financial Analyst – Northern Australia Integrated is responsible for providing financial support for our Santos Northern Australia operations and the Barossa Aboriginal Future Fund (BAFF) within the WA, NA, TL Regional Business Unit.
You will aid all financial information and analysis for Northern Australia operations, including integrated reporting, financial accounting, budgeting and forecasting of these activities for stakeholders.
You will lead finance support for the BAFF and will work closely with members of the Finance team to ensure the Business Unit leadership has a clear understanding of Business financial performance, financial impacts of key business decisions, individual cost drivers, recommend actions to improve financial performance.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Responsible for routine monthly financial activities related to Darwin LNG operations, related to Barossa operations and leading finance support for BAFF in the WA, NA, TL Regional Business Unit portfolio.
  • Accountable for delivering financial support to the BU including Business Partnering, Joint venture Finance, Cost Management & Reporting, Month End, Financial Planning & Analysis, Quality analysis and insights with emphasis on forward-looking actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement mindset.
  • Compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS).
  • Compliance with the Santos Delegation of Authority (DOA).
  • Compliance with the Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.

Core accountabilities

  • Apply critical financial thinking and experience to develop, advise and deliver plans aligned to company strategy.
  • Act as finance business partner to the DLNG operations and BAFF management teams, support financial analysis and decision making.
  • Lead finance analysis and assurance for activities directly between Barossa JV and DLNG, including carbon cost pass through and tolling, and ensuring consistency between forecast operating assumptions between both assets.
  • Lead finance support for the Barossa Aboriginal Future Fund.
  • Manage risk to the business through compliance and implementation of robust processes and internal controls.
  • Assure compliance to Santos group standards and policies -including DOA, group accounting policies.
  • Ensure compliance to JOA requirements for Joint Ventures, BAFF governance documents.
  • Coordinate and provide input to incoming/outgoing audits.
  • Deliver Joint Venture budget, billing and cash call preparation and AFE obligations.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with cost control team (ensure clear alignment between finance and cost control for WP&Bs, AFEs and financial budgets and forecasts), Financial Services and JV partners.
  • Support Senior Finance Analyst – DLNG in managing all finance deliverables for the DLNG legal entity, including producing monthly and annual financial statements, and delivering JV and internal reporting.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum 5-6 years accounting experience, preferably in Big 4 or resources industry.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office and data modelling/manipulation.
  • Proficient SAP User.
  • Tertiary qualified in Accounting, Commerce or related area.
  • Completed professional qualification (CA, CPA or equivalent).
