About the Role:

The Graduate Accountant - Management Accounting works within the Management Accounting team within Finance Branch to provide quality financial and budgetary services to Branch, Unit and line managers within the Department, to assist the business to operate efficiently and maintain a robust internal control framework.

The key role outcomes are:

  • Assistance is provided to allocate, cashflow and reconcile budgets for branches and units, including providing staff and management with accurate information, account codes and templates.
  • The department's internal budget processes are supported by collecting, presenting and submitting information to request budget adjustments.
  • Financial data and reports are extracted from relevant systems, and data and budget deviations are identified, investigated and reported on.
  • Financial information and routine advice are provided to clients to support reporting, monitoring and audit requirements.
  • Acquittals for grant funded projects are contributed to by reviewing transactions, applying business rules and preparing data.
  • The integrity of financial information is verified through reconciliations, preparation of corrective journals and retaining appropriate supporting documentation.
  • End of year financial processes are supported, including the interrogation of financial data and documentation to identify and address errors, omissions or discrepancies.
  • Quality relationships with clients are built and maintained to facilitate compliance and education in relation to departmental internal controls, financial policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.

Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
  • May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel and work outside of the normal hours of work.
  • Interchange between other Finance roles at the same classification when business needs arise, or when requested by senior Finance staff.
  • Required to register and participate in the Graduate Development Program as well as undertake on-the-job training relevant to the position and team more generally. This may include periodical rotation of placements through the Branch.
  • This role has been designated as a Position of Trust pursuant to the standards required in the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework. By applying for this role you consent to being screened under the process of obtaining a National Police Clearance (NPC), and to the Department requiring you to obtain an NPC.

Remuneration:
ASO3 $67,589 min - $72,033 max p.a.
