Rock Ridge Farming is a well-established family business growing avocados and bananas on the Atherton Tablelands.
The role of Farm Machinery Maintenance and Service Technician involves working with farm managers and other members of the maintenance crew to ensure the reliable operation of all plant and machinery (including four wheelers, light vehicles, tractors, earthmoving machinery, trucks etc) across the Rock Ridge farms and packsheds.
We are looking for a motivated, experienced and passionate person to join our maintenance team. This will initially be a casual role (averaging at least 38 hours per week) with opportunity to transition to permanent after conclusion of the probationary period.
You will primarily be based on our various farm and packshed sites between Atherton and Mareeba areas. A work vehicle will be provided for travel between sites.
ABOUT THE ROLE
With guidance from the Maintenance Supervisors, you will be responsible for conducting scheduled/on-going plant maintenance and servicing in addition to resolving mechanical issues as they arise.
This role includes scheduled servicing, troubleshooting and repairs for:

Farm vehicles (both on & off-road)

Farm machinery
-
Packshed equipment
-
ATVs and light vehicles
-
Tractors
-
Trucks
Other responsibilities:

Maintaining asset register
-
Other duties as requested by management from time to time, including occasional farm-based roles such as tractor driving or machinery operation during quiet maintenance periods or busy on-farm periods
ABOUT YOU
Ideally, you have completed a trade as a diesel fitter, light-vehicle mechanic or auto electrician. In lieu of a trade, we would also consider someone with ample experience in a similar role. However, regardless of your qualifications, you will be able to demonstrate your:

You have a manual driver’s licence
The hourly rate will be negotiated based on your experience and knowledge, starting at a minimum of $40 per hour (higher wages will be offered based on your skillset).
The preferred hours of work are 7am – 5pm Mondays through to Thursday, and 7am-1:30pm on a Friday. However, negotiated work hours may be available for the right candidate.
