We’re looking for a capable and enthusiastic Livestock Officer to join our research team. This is a permanent, part-time (0.4FTE) role with flexibility around working arrangements, depending on your needs and experience. You’ll work closely with our CEO, and alongside a team of committed ag professionals in a friendly, supportive and purpose-driven environment.

Stirlings to Coast Farmers is a grower-led organisation delivering high-impact research, development and extension (RD&E) across the Albany region. Our 90+ farming business member base spans from Frankland River to Wellstead, with a strong focus on mixed farming. Sheep and cattle are the leading livestock enterprises.
Our team of nine brings together expertise in cropping, livestock systems, ag tech and communications. About the Role
As Livestock Officer, you’ll lead and support livestock research and trials that deliver practical, evidence-based outcomes for farmers in our region. You’ll be involved in all aspects of project management, on-farm trial delivery, and producer engagement, ensuring each project is relevant, scientifically sound, and focused on adoption.
Key Responsibilities-
Design, coordinate and manage livestock RD&E projects focused on the needs of local farmers.

Maintain strong connections with SCF members to understand regional research priorities.

Collaborate with our communications team to deliver clear and engaging extension activities.

Uphold research credibility by ensuring rigorous planning, delivery and reporting.

Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with research organisations and agribusiness aligned with SCF’s goals.
What You’ll Bring (selection criteria)
Essential:-
Solid understanding of WA livestock farming systems, particularly sheep and cattle.

Practical experience working directly with livestock.

Strong project management skills, including planning, delivery and reporting.

Excellent communication skills and ability to confidently extend information to farmers and industry.

Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.

Flexible and able to work according to seasonal requirements.

A current, unrestricted WA driver’s licence (or equivalent).

Tertiary or postgraduate qualifications in agricultural science or a related field.
-
Experience in livestock research, trial management, data collection and analysis.

Existing networks within WA’s agricultural sector, particularly in the Great Southern.

ChemCert accreditation.
-
WA Heavy Vehicle licence (or equivalent).
