In this role, you'll:
The Future Mobility Testing and Research Centre in Cudal was established to conduct testing and evaluation on emerging technology of Safety Assist features in cars such as autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning and lane keep assist functions in accordance with international and national protocols.
Utilising robots capable of driving cars, articulated pedestrian targets and pilotable self-propelled car target (aka. GST – Guided Soft Target, or GVT – Global Vehicle Target), the Cudal test facility is the only one of its kind in Australia and is at the forefront of autonomous testing in Australia.
Right now, we have opportunity for a Test Engineer – Future Mobility Testing to support the delivery of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) testing, research and development of future mobility technologies, vehicle safety innovation and technology development and TfNSW Road Safety research programs.
Support test programs by preparing vehicles, including installing steering, acceleration, and braking robots, GPS units, and communication equipment. Maintain the operation, maintenance and calibration of highly specialised test equipment, including investigating and resolving technical and software issues. Ensure accurate and detailed recording of test documentation in accordance with internal quality system and National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) requirements, and support the management and storage of test data, photographic and video files and preparation of detailed test reports.

About You
We’re flexible on your background. Ideally, you have tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechatronics, Electronics, Electrical, Aviation, Mechanical or related), with a genuine passion for robotics and automation.
You will also have knowledge and experience with communication systems (GPS, network, and radio), Digital connectivity, Connected and Autonomous technologies
You are curious. You have a demonstrated ability and desire to problem solve, investigate, seek solutions and think laterally when approaching new and unfamiliar technology.
This is essential, as you will be required to ensure equipment remains operational during test programs. Any experience in autonomous vehicles, sensors or robotics would be highly regarded.
Importantly, you need to be able to work in a team environment who is willing to learn and has an ability to think outside the box.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechatronics/Electronics/Electrical/Mechanical or Automation) from an Australian tertiary institution or equivalent overseas qualifications” Possess a current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver license Willingness to work outside regular working hours and travel on occasion

This role requires testing beyond normal working hours, for example testing in night-time conditions. So, willingness to work outside regular working hours and travel on occasion Work is at times physical, and requires working extended periods outdoors in the elements. Candidates may need to undertake background checks, criminal record checks, and a medical /fitness assessment.
