Mechanical Engineer – Drive Innovation at STG Global
Are you ready to take your engineering expertise to the next level? STG Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who’s passionate about designing, building, and refining cutting-edge solutions for specialised trucks and heavy vehicles.
Based in our facility at Pakenham, this role will give you the opportunity to work on projects that push the boundaries of design and performance, collaborating with a collaborative team across engineering, manufacturing, and product innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
· Design & Development: Conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical components and systems for heavy vehicles, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
· BOM & ECR development: Conduct BOM integration, develop and maintain ECR approval flow on SolidWorks PDM
· Analysis & Optimization: Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and other engineering simulations to optimize performance, durability, and efficiency.
· Manufacturing Support: Collaborate with production teams to ensure seamless transition from design to manufacturing, resolving technical issues, and implementing process improvements.
· Quality & Compliance: Ensure all designs meet regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, AS, DOT) and customer specifications.
· Project Management: Lead and manage engineering projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and cross-functional coordination.
· Testing & Validation: Develop and oversee testing protocols for components and full-vehicle systems, analysing results and implementing improvements.
· Supplier & Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to source materials, components, and technologies.
· Innovation & R&D: Stay updated on industry advancements, integrating new materials, manufacturing methods, and emerging technologies into vehicle designs.
Experience & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
· Proven experience in new architecture design and release
· Proven experience in FEA and CEA analysis projects (preferred)
· 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in heavy vehicle manufacturing, automotive, or a related industry.
· Proficiency in Mechanical 3D CAD Software (SolidWorks) with proven experience in modelling and reverse engineering.
· Proven experience in quality systems and design failure mode analysis. Specially with DFMEA, DVP&R, and quality assurance methodologies
· Capable to utilize engineering and physics principles to design and release truck’s or heavy vehicle’s specialized mechanisms
· Proven experience in problem solving from start to finish and by using engineering tools
· Proven experience in projects management tools such Gantt Chart, Confluence and JIRA
· Experience with metal fabrication, welding, and structural design principles.
· Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and powertrain systems.
· Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, casting, and injection moulding.
· Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work on complex engineering challenges.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills, with experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
· Understanding of regulatory standards such as AS/NZS, ADR, or FMVSS is a plus.
