The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Environmental & Sustainability Manager who has extensive experience in large-scale civil infrastructure. This role involves ensuring that projects adhere to applicable environmental laws, regulations, and contractual requirements concerning the construction, design, and operation of projects. Additionally, you will oversee sustainability initiatives that address the social, economic, governance, and environmental effects of FCC's activities. Collaborating with a diverse team, you will be instrumental in driving optimal sustainability performance.

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Aiding in the creation and execution of strategies and initiatives that foster a high-performance culture and enhance employee engagement. This includes establishing clear performance and behavioral expectations for individuals, teams, and the overall project.

  • Overseeing and managing operational activities related to environmental compliance.

  • Accountable for the daily execution of the project's environmental responsibilities. - Performing environmental assessments, field inspections, and site evaluations.

  • Collaborating with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and address complex issues by advising operational management on environmental matters.

  • Conducting site inspections and auditing operational activities to ensure adherence to environmental permits.

  • Monitoring and reporting on sustainability outcomes in relation to established objectives and targets.

  • Carrying out sustainability site inspections to raise awareness and understanding of sustainability among project team

  • Assisting with internal reporting, audits, and engagement with stakeholders. - Identifying significant sustainability risks and opportunities, defining suitable initiatives, and keeping track of emerging sustainability challenges, including legislative updates, climate risks, and industry developments.

Key role requirements:

  • Qualifications in Environmental Science and/or Engineering

  • Extensive experience in environmental and sustainability compliance within a construction environment.

  • Post graduate qualifications, e.g. graduate certificate or graduate diploma in Environmental, Risk, Sustainability, Project Management or other associated disciplines

  • Experience working with Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) or Green Star rating tools (ISAP/GSAP).

  • Demonstrated understanding of project risk management, compliance, and sustainability reporting.

  • Proficient with IT and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
