About the role

Ansvar Australia , who are proudly part of Benefact Group , are looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our Brisbane office.

The Senior Underwriter evaluates and manages medium to complex risks within our property and casualty portfolios and core sectors. Operating within delegated underwriting authority and following the Company's established strategies, this role supports the profitable growth of the business.

The Senior Underwriter is also responsible for maximising existing and new business opportunities by the Northern Region team and will include visitations to broker and client offices. Development and maintenance of broker and client relationships is an important aspect of this role.

The primary objective of the role is to deliver professional and efficient customer service to achieve profitable premium growth and underwriting profitability in our core segments.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist in the growth and maintenance of profitable, sustainable business within the allocated State’s portfolio of business
  • Undertake personal underwriting of the schemes and medium to large sized policies, including new business
  • Deliver professional and efficient customer service to brokers and distribution partners, as well as internal colleagues
  • Assist the Northern Region Manager and wider Underwriting and Distribution team in maximising the profitability of the Ansvar’s portfolio
  • Contribute to the alignment of risk and compliance management practises within the allocated portfolio by sitting at the first line of defence
  • Contribute to developing a workplace learning environment

Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Multi-line experience in property and casualty
  • Experience in dealing directly with brokers and clients
  • Embraces and consistently displays Ansvar’s values
  • Ability to create a positive working environment
  • Passionate about the business and highly motivated to achieve Company objectives
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in Underwriting including business development functions with strong commercial lines product knowledge
  • Completed or be undertaking insurance qualification in ANZIIF Associate level and/or have relevant tertiary qualifications related to Insurance
