About the role

Expressions of interest are open for the Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) – Private Maternity , for multiple ARL coverage required over the next 12 months at South Brisbane.

Responsible for the clinical and operational management of our Midwifery Unit Manager – Private Maternity will temporarily join the leadership team to lead Hatch Private Maternity and My Mater Midwives Private MGP Service in the position of Midwifery Unit Manager . The Midwifery Unit Manager takes overall responsibility for the health care environment and standard of patient care. As the registered midwife in charge of the program, the MUM performs as a clinical leader and manager with accountability for culture, quality and safety, patient flow, financial management, change management and the experience of women and families throughout their pregnancy journey.

Hatch Private Maternity is a collaboration of obstetricians and endorsed midwives providing a continuum of care to women both within the clinic and at the hospital. The on-call obstetrician is the primary care provider to women birthing in the hospital, with the midwife providing most of the antenatal and postnatal care in the hospital and community.

My Mater Midwives group work in collaboration with Private Obstetricians who are the primary care providers to women accessing this model of care. Each private midwife manages an agreed number of women throughout this journey, offering antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. My Mater Midwives work collaboratively with like-minded professionals, leveraging inter-disciplinary practice to best meet the needs of women and a family friendly on call roster and working arrangements.

Salary range: $71.42 - $76.80 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

Clinical expertise/Patient care

Suitable applicants for this role will be a Registered or Clinical Midwife with:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
  • Current advanced clinical knowledge and experience in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Proven high level competence in leading and managing clinical teams
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a clinical cost centre
  • Previous experience working in a Midwifery Group Practice
  • Tertiary qualification in Midwifery, health administration or management, clinical leadership, budget management and finance (or working towards)
  • Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of midwifery practice
