The Company
This forward-thinking financial services organisation is investing heavily in modernising its data ecosystem to support growth, agility, and data-driven decision-making. As part of this transformation, they’re seeking a Data Lead to spearhead the modernisation of legacy systems and lead the delivery of scalable, cloud-first data solutions.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Data Analytics and working closely with the CIO, you’ll take charge of re-architecting the organisation’s data environment — moving from legacy systems to a modern, robust, and integrated cloud-based solution. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee the end-to-end data delivery lifecycle, from design and implementation to governance and ongoing optimisation. You’ll work closely with key business stakeholders, analysts, and technology teams to ensure data is reliable, secure, and driving value across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the modernisation of data architecture, pipelines, and platforms across cloud and hybrid environments
  • Design and implement scalable ETL/ELT frameworks that support enterprise-wide analytics and reporting
  • Rebuild and consolidate legacy systems into a modern, integrated cloud data platform
  • Establish best practices around data modelling, governance, lineage, and quality assurance
  • Collaborate across teams to deliver fit-for-purpose data solutions that align with business strategy
  • Guide adoption of tools like Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and Snowflake
  • Provide technical leadership across data engineering initiatives, performance tuning, and platform enhancements
  • Act as a trusted advisor on all things data – driving innovation and continuous improvement
About You:
  • Strong experience in data engineering, architecture and integration
  • Proficient in developing ETL pipelines from RDBMS and flat file sources (CSV, Excel, JSON, XML)
  • Skilled in relational and dimensional data modelling
  • Hands-on with cloud data solutions such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake
  • Strong programming skills in R, Python or C#
  • Solid understanding of SDLC and software development practices
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Financial services / funds management experience preferred
  • Analytical, detail-oriented and solutions-focused mindset
