About Us
Nestled in the lush, tropical surrounds of Fannie Bay in Darwin’s Top End, the Darwin Turf Club/Silks is famed for the running of the Great Northern Darwin Cup, the crescendo of an eight-day dry season carnival. With 39 race days a year, the trackside action happens all year round. Silks is a membership-based local community club including bistro, gaming room, sports bar, and a few conference & event spaces around the business overlooking the race ground.
About the role
Darwin Turf Club/Silks is looking for casual Gardens, Grounds and Facilities Maintenance Labourer who is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the racetrack, buildings, grounds, and machinery.
Key Responsibilities

Assist in maintaining the track as directed

Repair and maintenance of stables and other club buildings

Operate and maintain plant and equipment, e.g., tractors, forklifts, etc., in a safe manner

Ensure that all grounds and buildings are presented at the highest possible standard

Water, cut grass, fertilise, and conduct any other ground maintenance & gardening duties

Removes cuttings, rakes leaves, cleans/empties litter bins, cleans gutters/drains/culverts;

Set up furniture for race days and other functions

Ensure you are working in line with occupational health and safety procedures set by DTC
To be successful, you will have :

Labouring experience
-
Forklift ticket and HR license are advantageous

Experience on tractors, mowers & machinery

Ability to work individually or as part of a small team and deliver on expectations

Ability to work a rotational roster with 7-day availability, i ncluding weekdays, weekends, and public holidays, and morning and afternoon shifts if required
