ABOUT GEMCO
Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world's manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a permanent position on a 7:7 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.
As the Rehabilitation Specialist , you will be part of a diverse team who help safely deliver the GEMCO Rehabilitation Program through a range of best practice activities. This is a great opportunity to exchange knowledge with others by passing on your skills whilst respectfully learning aspects of local Indigenous culture including traditional natural resource management skills and knowledge.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:
- Native seed collection, seed processing, seed storage, seed nursery propagation, tree planting and weed control
- GIS mapping, aerial seeding and spraying with drones
- Recording, presenting & analysing data for continuous improvement
- Assist the Rehabilitation Supervisor plan and deliver annual rehabilitation activities along with potential experimental trials
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Maintaining accurate records & using GIS or other relevant software
- Demonstrated ability to model safe working practices & behaviours
- Planning & managing projects with strong time management skills
- Developing cultural awareness and building effective working relationships with Indigenous Traditional Owners
- Operating vehicles & machinery safely in challenging environments
Qualifications for this position are:
- Tertiary qualification in relevant field
- Valid Manual Driver's Licence
