About the role:

Â

Reporting to our External Reporting Lead, you will be responsible for assisting in developing and delivering policy and thought leadership initiatives in the areas of financial reporting and non-financial reporting, including environmental, social and governance (ESG). Activities undertaken by the Technical Advisor will be aimed at fulfilling organisational objectives and supporting the Policy and Advocacy team in furthering research, policy and advocacy activities, developing guidance and stakeholder engagement on behalf of CPA Australia and its members.

Your key duties will include:

Â

  • Identifying key issues of relevance to CPA Australia members and of public interest
  • Assist with developing policy positions on relevant issues in consultation with the External Reporting Lead, other Policy and Advocacy team members, CPA Australia management and members
  • Provide analysis and feedback on policy developments including standards and legislative proposals developed by governments, standard-setters, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders
  • Initiate or undertake research activities to enhance CPA Australiaâs reputation as a thought leader and to further the member and public interest
  • Develop and present information through various communication channels including presentations, webinars and podcasts.
  • Briefings for the President, Board, CEO, Chief of Policy Standards and External Affairs, the Reporting and Assurance (RA) and Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) Centres of Excellence and others as relevant
  • Engagement with members through the RA and ESG Centres of Excellence
  • Supporting the External Reporting Lead on financial reporting policy matters and the ESG Lead on sustainability reporting and other ESG matters.

About you:

Â

  • Experience in a technical accounting or similar role
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify and develop key stakeholder relationships and to maintain existing key stakeholder relationships
  • Degree in accounting, economics, finance or related discipline
  • CPA, CA or equivalent professional qualification or working towards it (required)
