The role – Learning Diversity Assistant
A fixed term part-time (3-5 days) position is now available for an experience Learning Support/Diversity Assistant. The role is subject to government funding linked to our operational requirements until the end of the school year (2025).
Key Responsibilities:
- Learning Diversity Assistants (LDAs) support students in classrooms by assisting with differentiated learning, delivering interventions, and offering physical or emotional support.
- They work under teacher supervision to help students complete tasks, stay focused, transition between activities, and take learning breaks.
- LDAs may record observations and feedback on student progress to assist teachers in shaping learning outcomes.
- Building positive relationships with students is key to providing effective support across a range of needs, including disabilities and giftedness.
- LDAs delivering small group intervention programs may receive limited administrative time for planning.
- Secondary LDAs may also have admin time allocated for familiarisation with curriculum and texts.
- Administrative tasks like writing ILPs, timetabling, and NCCD documentation remain the responsibility of teaching staff.
- LDAs are expected to manage communications, complete incident reports, perform yard duties, and fulfil other scheduled responsibilities.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum qualification of a Certificate III Education Support or Professional Certificate of Education Support (Monash University)
- Understand the nature of Primary or Secondary students with special needs
- Previous experience as a learning support / integration / teacher aide will be highly regarded but is not a must
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
