Description:

As the Team Leader for Client Services at Victim Assist Queensland, you will be responsible for overseeing a team that provides essential administrative and client support to the financial assistance assessment teams. You will manage day-to-day operations, ensure the accurate delivery of support to government assessors, and oversee the triage and response to enquiries from victims of crime and service providers.

The role requires strong leadership, emotional resilience, and the ability to support staff working with sensitive and sometimes distressing content. You will play a key role in fostering a supportive, trauma-informed team environment while maintaining high service standards and encouraging the use of staff wellbeing resources.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of Client Services Officers to deliver client focused services to clients through the application of Victim Assist resources, policies, processes, systems, and technologies.
  • Provide advice on operational policy and procedures in the provision of assistance and the administration of the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009
  • Communicate effectively and create relationships with a range of stakeholders including other departmental business units Team Leaders, ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of Victim Assist services.
  • Build the capability of staff within the team to sustain performance and meet current and future demands through effective leadership, coaching and professional development strategies.
  • Undertakes evidence-based decision making as required relating to the provision of assistance under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
  • Delivering outcomes through monitoring workflows, work allocation, team performance and team management.

  • Remains composed in high stakes situations, supporting the team to recognise gaps in information and seek advice to enable a prompt and considered response. (makes insightful decisions).
  • Drives autonomy in the team by empowering others to take ownership for the delivery and quality of outcomes achieved. (drives accountability and outcomes).
  • Supports others to embrace and operate within legislative and policy frameworks that guide everyday practice (demonstrates sound governance).
  • Works with the team to organise work priorities so they deliver on broader organisation commitments (leads strategically).
  • Implements development plans with direct reports to address skill and knowledge gaps and enhance the capabilities they require for current and future roles (develops and mobilises talent).
