About the role
We are seeking a values-driven Operations Manager to lead the business, finance, property, and administrative functions of The Salvation Army Dandenong Corps. This full-time, permanent role supports the day-to-day operations of the church and community centre, working closely with Corps Officers, staff, volunteers, and community members to ensure our mission is lived out in practical ways.
Reporting directly to the Corps Officer, this role is based onsite in Dandenong, Victoria.
Key responsibilities

Provide strong leadership to direct reports, including coaching, goal setting, performance management, workflow coordination, and encouraging continuous improvement.

Manage day-to-day operations of the site, supporting Corps Officers in all relevant tasks.

Prepare and present operational reports, identifying areas for improvement and growth.

Oversee volunteer engagement using Workday – including recruitment, induction, training, compliance, and coordination with ministry leaders.

Ensure property and site compliance, including WHS, maintenance, audits, security, bus use, incident reporting, and liaison with THQ and volunteers.

Manage financial processes such as receipting donations, banking, purchasing, processing invoices, and sourcing quotes – all in line with TSA financial policies.

Coordinate hire of facilities to support community use and generate income.

Organise and lead monthly staff meetings in collaboration with the Corps Officers.

Achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) relating to the above functions.
About you
-
At least 2 years of administration experience; qualifications in business administration are desirable.

Previous experience in church or not-for-profit operations is highly regarded.

High-level computer literacy across MS Office and databases.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent people management and team coordination skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with integrity.

Comfortable working with people who have complex or high needs.

A high level of initiative, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic.

A commitment to the Christian faith and willingness to actively participate in the spiritual life of the Corps is highly desirable.

Holds a current Victorian Driver’s Licence.

Able to pass a National Police Check and hold a current Working with Children Check (Victoria).

Remuneration
This position is classified under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award – Level 3.
