About the opportunity:
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and numerically adept Payroll Assistant to join our team on a part-time basis, up to 30 hours per fortnight. As a Payroll Assistant at PICA Group, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, adhering to Australian payroll regulations and maintaining the utmost confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll data. Here you will join the People Experience team and work closely with our Payroll Manager (who is genuinely one of the nicest people you will ever meet no joke), in assisting with the fortnightly payroll for approximately 800 employees and be the new face for all general payroll enquiries.
Do you require flexibility with your hours? So do we. The ideal candidate will be flexible with availability with the ideal working days being Thursday and Friday before payroll week and Monday and Tuesday of payroll week. Based primarily from our Corporate Head Office in Sydney CBD, you will also have the opportunity to work from home or from a branch located close to your residence.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, in this role you will be responsible to assist in maintaining the smooth operations of our payroll function including:
- Coordinating and running the fortnightly payroll (autopay and exceptions) for our team and ensuring that we all get paid correctly (very important!)
- Checking the payroll and ensure that all variances are accounted for
- Assisting with end of month and end-of-financial-year processing
- Performing the annual reconciliation for those employees covered under the Clerks (Private Sector) Award (approx. 200 employees)
- Be a subject matter expert in HRIS and run monthly reports to analyse data to ensure that all employee data is accurate.
As a valued team member of the People Services team, you will be invited to participate in all company cultural activities and provide feedback in our monthly one on one honest conversations program.
Most importantly, in a daily catch up with the wider People Experience Team, you will share gratitude along with thoughts and recommendations on the best ice cream flavours, marketplace bargains, binge-worthy streaming series, cringe-worthy reality TV dramas and great places to walk, eat, drink, sleep and otherwise experience. If you have experience in assisting in the administration of a high volume payroll, have a passion for numbers, a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of Australian payroll practices, and experience in working with a HRIS that is built around workforce management and automation, then we strongly encourage you to apply!
