About the Opportunity
Our Client is an industry-leading agribusiness is seeking an experienced Farm Manager to lead operations at a high-performing mixed farming and Wagyu backgrounding property in the New England region of New South Wales.
Located approximately 45 minutes from Tamworth and covering around 1,918 hectares , this property combines irrigated and dryland cropping , fodder conservation , and elite cattle production . With 366 hectares under 11 centre pivots , it plays a pivotal role in the supply of Fullblood and Purebred Wagyu to a premium national beef brand.
This is a key leadership opportunity for a seasoned farm manager with strong operational, livestock, and irrigation experience to contribute to a values-driven and forward-thinking agricultural business.
Key Responsibilities
As Property Manager, you will be accountable for the performance and oversight of all property operations, including:
Leadership & Operational Management
- Lead a motivated team with a focus on safety, compliance, and performance.
- Drive WHS culture and continuous improvement across property operations.
- Plan and manage budgets, operational costs, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Oversee cattle backgrounding operations aligned with Wagyu supply chain protocols.
- Monitor animal health, growth rates, and compliance with animal welfare standards.
- Ensure accurate livestock record-keeping and traceability.
- Manage cropping, pasture, and fodder production programs.
- Operate and maintain centre pivot irrigation systems and water resource usage.
- Collaborate with agronomists to implement seasonal plans and best practice.
- Develop and execute preventative and responsive maintenance programs.
- Ensure all infrastructure, machinery, and irrigation assets are fit for purpose.
- Prepare reports and updates to inform business performance reviews.
You are a hands-on and strategic agricultural leader with demonstrated experience across livestock and cropping enterprises. Your strengths lie in team leadership, technical operations, and maintaining a high standard of animal welfare and production efficiency.
Essential Criteria
- At least 3 years’ experience in a property/farm management leadership role.
- Expertise in centre pivot irrigation , dryland cropping, and fodder conservation.
- Strong knowledge of animal husbandry and Wagyu or backgrounding programs.
- Practical understanding of pasture rotations and crop production systems.
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
- Diploma in Agriculture or Agribusiness.
- First Aid Certificate and Chemical Users Accreditation.
- Familiarity with StockMate, FY3000 or similar livestock software.
