About the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the NDIS Commission) is an independent agency established on 1 July 2018 to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. The Commission is the dedicated national regulator of NDIS service providers in Australia and a non-corporate entity under the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013.
Litigation Practice
The Commission’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team (Litigation Team) was established in November 2023, following approval by the Attorney General for Commission lawyers to conduct court litigation ‘in-house’, as solicitor on the record and counsel.
The Commission is seeking to expand its litigation practice to conduct more litigation on behalf of the Commission, including civil penalty proceedings and judicial review applications before the Federal Court, merits review applications before the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) and representing the Commission in coronial inquiries and inquests.
About the role
As Senior Lawyer in the Litigation Team, you will have primary carriage of a number of litigation matters assigned to you and will lead the team working on each of those matters.
The role would suit litigators with at least seven (7) years’ experience in the areas of civil penalty litigation and/or administrative law litigation, who are also exceptional leaders and mentors. You must thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment and enjoy juggling multiple competing and constantly evolving priorities.
