The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is hiring temporary staff to work:
- on election day, 3 May, in polling places
- and on and after election day in counting centres.
There are a range of roles available, you could be giving people their ballot papers, counting votes, packaging materials or managing polling places.
Most work is on election day, but some jobs are for a few weeks after, making it a great opportunity to earn extra money. No electoral experience is needed as paid training is provided. You also get on-the-job support as part of the team delivering world-class electoral services in Australia.
The AEC’s role is to successfully deliver the federal election with the highest levels of integrity. To work at the election, you must be politically neutral.
