About the role
We are looking for an engaging and a dynamic leader to join our executive leadership team as the General Manager, Operations . Reporting directly to the CEO, this role plays a critical role in leading EDU Group’s non-academic operations, ensuring excellence in student services, administration, engagement, facilities, IT, and data reporting.
Based at our Sydney campus , this is an exciting opportunity to develop and drive impactful operational strategies across a national education provider, working collaboratively with teams across admissions, academic, marketing, finance, and quality assurance.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to
Strategy and operations
- Contribute to the development of strategic and business plans for EDU
- Lead the development and implementation of strategy as well as efficient day to day operations of
- Student experience
- Student administration
- Student events and engagement
- Workplacement and industry partnerships
- Facilities and campus management
- Systems and IT management
- Nurture and lead the national and offshore team to deliver outstanding student support and satisfaction
- Contribute to the development and implementation of workforce planning, ensuring the Group has sufficient employees to deliver on agreed service standards
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and deliver a high level of student engagement throughout the learning journey, ensuring an overall positive experience
- Analyse and interpret data across various teams, including providing accurate and timely data to internal management teams and the governance committee
- Contribute to the design and operation of appropriate governance structures and mechanisms across all group providers
- Report to and actively participate in relevant governance boards and committees, as required
- Collaborate on the development of, regularly review, and improve, policies and processes related to the Group’s operational function activities
- Support internal audit and other review activities to ensure practices within the operations function remain aligned to relevant policies and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with other executives on the assessment and implementation of strategic growth opportunities,s including new product and campus opportunities, partnership
Cost management
- Participate in the development of the annual Group budget
- Manage costs that are within the control of the operations function in accordance with the budget
- Provide analysis and commentary on any budget variances in relation to monthly management accounts
Team leadership
- Demonstrate leadership and support the development of such leadership within the operations function through mentoring, coaching, and facilitating opportunities for ongoing training and development
- Embrace and model the fundamental values of the Group and ensure these characteristics are consistently applied across all key initiatives and decision-making
- Actively engage in developing a positive and supportive culture within your team and across the Group
- Implement diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to promote DEI within the operations team, as well as ensuring that these principles are integrated into all student services
Education, experience, and skills
- Bachelor or higher qualification preferred
- Extensive experience in the education sector in a senior leadership role including developing, leading, and managing high-performing teams
- Experience with management of data input, including reporting and analysis
- High attention to detail and results-focused
- Demonstrated understanding of requirements associated with regulatory frameworks, especially the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021
- National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018
- Excellent IT literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite
- Experience using and maintaining databases (eg. CRM’s, Student Management Systems, PRISMS)
- Experience with customer relationship management / contact centre software (eg. Zendesk)
- Positive attitude and ability to think creatively
- Cross-cultural awareness and ability to nurture the team
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work autonomously and in a team
