This leading ASX listed building and construction service product supply business operates across the country and is a leading provider of equipment and associated systems & solutions to the civil construction, industrial and mining and resources sectors. The business has experienced significant growth with the engineering department doubling over the last 3 years and is now in need of an experienced engineering leader to play a crucial role in driving the success of the engineering department and the broader business.
The Role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager Engineering is a key member of the senior leadership team. The General Manager will be responsible for managing and developing the engineering design function of the business, whilst also ensuring they are seen as the leading engineered solutions provider in the market for their clients. With over 40 team members across multiple states, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, risk management and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a high-performing engineering team, including three Engineering Managers across different divisions.
- Manage engineering risk and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Support the sales team by delivering timely, innovative design solutions.
- Enhance collaboration across departments and ensure a flexible yet structured approach to design.
- Drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and technical excellence.
The Candidate
The successful applicant will be an experienced hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You will be a problem solver who can instil confidence in their team members by communicating and managing effectively in a changing environment.
Skills and Experience:
- 15+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong background in temporary works or construction engineering.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
- Proven ability to lead a team of engineers and designers.
- Client-facing focus with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient in Spacegass or Microstran.
- Experience in Revit implementation would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of formwork engineering.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Ability to travel interstate as required.
