We’re looking for a dynamic Service and UX Designer (AS7) to play a pivotal role in Queensland Rail’s Digital Centre of Excellence — a team at the forefront of digital innovation and transformation. About the Role

This is more than a design role. It’s an opportunity to be a catalyst for cultural and operational change. Working with a multidisciplinary team, you will help solve complex business challenges and flip traditional ways of working through agile, human-centred approaches.

In this hands-on role, you’ll blend strategic thinking with tactical execution, leading the design of seamless user journeys that integrate digital technologies with real-world service delivery and operations.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead service and user experience design of solutions from discovery through delivery, including the creation of journey maps and service blueprints.
  • Apply human-centred design to identify business problems, pain points, and opportunities.
  • Conduct research with empathy—engaging with users, employees, and stakeholders to deeply understand their needs.
  • Develop and refine wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to visualise and validate ideas.
  • Collaborate across disciplines co-create digital solutions.
  • Champion the value of service and UX design across the organisation, helping to embed new ways of working and thinking.

What We’re Looking For

We’re after someone who can turn human insight into powerful design solutions and who thrives in a collaborative, agile, and future-focused environment. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Proven hands-on experience in service design, UX design, and human-centred design practices.
  • Expertise in user research, journey mapping, accessibility and usability standards, and inclusive design.
  • Confidence working within multidisciplinary teams to co-design innovative solutions.
  • Ability to articulate and champion the benefits of design thinking and service design across broad stakeholder group.
  • Experience applying emerging technologies to improve the user experience and business outcomes.

Remuneration & Employment Type

This is a full-time, fixed-term position based in Brisbane CBD, concluding on 27 February 2026 . The role offers a starting base salary of $151,359 plus 12.75% superannuation , along with hybrid work options to support a healthy balance between professional and personal commitments.
