About the role:

We are currently recruiting for two Yard Coordinator’s to join our RMC and Operations team at our Bowen Hills office in a permanent fulltime position.

As a Yard Coordinator, you will manage the operation and train movement activities within the complex, stabling out depots and remote-controlled signalling stabling areas.

Role overview:

  • Allocate available Queensland Rail (QR) and New Generation Rollingstock (NGR) fleets to meet the AM and PM timetable.
  • Prepare and distribute the daily allocation sheet to key stakeholders
  • Oversee real-time train movements, respond to unexpected operational changes, and resolve any rostering or resource issues.
  • Maintain continuous coordination with Train Control and shunting employees to ensure efficient train flow and yard functionality.
  • Manage Electric Stabling Out Depots and the Remote Control Signalling (RCS) system.
  • Address any reported yard issues promptly, oversee incidents, and rectify concerns to maintain operational safety.
  • Monitor and action maintenance requests for QR and NGR fleets
  • Oversee the protection of Mayne Yard by ensuring all workers adhere to safeworking requirements. Complete and manage SW60 forms.
  • Maintain a safeworking environment within the Mayne Complex, including accident and incident reporting, security monitoring, and emergency response coordination.

What you’ll bring:

  • A good knowledge of controlling train movements and yard activities to achieve customer service and business objectives.
  • Experience with rollingstock planning, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Be a great communicator and have strong interpersonal, influencing and customer relationship skills.
  • Safe working knowledge to ensure the protection of workers and Rollingstock within SEQ Rail Yards together with great customer service to internal and external customers.


The shortlisted candidates may be required to undertake Psychomotor Testing as well as meet the medical standards for a Category 2 health assessment.
