About the Role
Join a dynamic team as a Leading Worker within our Rapid Response & Signage Team, where no two days are the same. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll coordinate and guide a dedicated crew in responding to safety-critical incidents across our community. You'll also oversee and contribute to a variety of operational maintenance tasks across playgrounds, roads, structures, and arboriculture. As a key point of contact for programming resources, scheduling, and ensuring safe and effective use of equipment, you'll play an essential role in maintaining Council assets to high standards. This role offers the perfect balance between field leadership, technical know-how, and community impact – ideal for someone ready to step up and lead from the front.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support your team in delivering rapid response and signage maintenance tasks to meet safety and service standards.
- Coordinate and carry out inspections, defect identification, and repairs of playgrounds and public structures.
- Operate and maintain plant and equipment such as chainsaws and electric hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Program and schedule day-to-day work activities and resource allocation in consultation with the Coordinator.
- Install and repair signage in line with Australian Work Zone Traffic Management standards.
- Conduct pothole repairs, graffiti removal, litter clearing, and other essential maintenance tasks.
- Act as a point of contact for external contractors and assist in supervision as needed.
- Maintain accurate daily records including timesheets, job logs, and material usage using digital systems.
- Train, mentor and guide apprentices, trainees and new staff in best work practices.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance services.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, other departments, and the public.
- Support and uphold a safe working environment by following and promoting safe work practices.
What You'll Need
- A current MR Driver’s Licence
- Certificate IV in Frontline Management, would be highly regarded
- Experience leading teams and coordinating work schedules
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Competency with tools, plant, and digital work systems (e.g., Confirm & Confirm Connect)
- Relevant accreditations (e.g., Level 2 Playground Inspection, chainsaw competency)
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards for Playground Equipment and Signage
