This comprehensive service includes the maintenance of buildings, workshops, fleet, and stores; civil infrastructure such as drainage, footpaths, and waste management; and the care of parks, landscapes, and open spaces. Specialized teams handle everything from arboriculture and turf management to pest control and security, while also responding to emergencies and maintaining contracts for features like reserve maintenance and cemetery services. About the Role:
We have multiple positions to join our dynamic and hardworking Rapid Response & Signage Team where no two days are the same. As a first responder to safety-critical incidents, you’ll be at the frontline of maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of public spaces. This hands-on role combines road, signage, structure, and arboriculture maintenance—ranging from pothole repairs and graffiti removal to playground inspections and tree branch clearing. Working collaboratively with your team, you'll operate a variety of tools and equipment, ensuring council assets are safe and compliant with relevant standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Attend and respond promptly to safety-critical incidents raised by the Customer Centre.
- Conduct playground and structure inspections, audits, and minor maintenance.
- Install, maintain, and repair street and safety signage in line with Australian Standards.
- Perform road pothole repairs and graffiti removal to maintain clean and safe public spaces.
- Safely remove deceased animals and respond to other public hazards.
- Operate tools and machinery, including chainsaws and electric hand tools, in line with safety standards.
- Drive medium ridged trucks and utes as required for job tasks.
- Erect temporary signage in compliance with Work Zone Traffic Management standards.
- Maintain equipment in safe and clean working condition.
- Accurately record daily work tasks, material use, and job progress via council systems.
- Assist other departments and teams when needed to support broader maintenance goals.
- Promote teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement in all aspects of your work.
What You'll Bring:
- Current MR Driver’s Licence.
- Proven experience in maintenance and rapid response tasks.
- Chainsaw competency and solid power/hand tool skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good level of literacy, numeracy, and confidence using technology to manage jobs.
