The Role

In this newly created role as Principal Consultant – Decarbonisation, you will lead strategies to reduce emissions and develop solutions such as economic modelling for clients’ sustainability goals. This role combines technical expertise with commercial insight, requiring leadership and influence. You will collaborate across industries, develop tailored solutions, and contribute to thought leadership. The role also includes mentoring and fostering high-performance teams.

With demonstrated leadership, strategic vision, and commercial acumen, you will be instrumental in shaping the global decarbonisation practice, mentoring a technical team, driving business growth, and expanding industry influence.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Client Advisory: Advise on decarbonisation strategies, with a focus on Scope 3 emissions in Australian supply chains. Develop and implement evidence-based, technology-driven solutions.
• Business Growth: Expand decarbonisation services, identify new opportunities, and contribute to revenue growth and innovation.
• Technical Expertise: Provide insights into carbon accounting, Scope 3 analysis, economic modelling, technology, data strategies, and pre-assurance methods.
• Industry Leadership: Address decarbonisation challenges across diverse sectors, bringing contemporary thinking and deep subject matter expertise.
• Implementation Oversight: Ensure strategies are actionable, effective, and aligned with business objectives.
• Regulatory Guidance: Provide expert advice on local policies, regulations, and initiatives.
• Team Leadership: Lead teams in tackling sector-specific sustainability challenges with innovative solutions.
• Thought Leadership: Represent the company at industry events, sharing insights and shaping the future of decarbonisation.

About You

This position will suit someone who is a dynamic and visionary thinker, who can seamlessly pivot between hands on technical work and mentoring teams through to shaping global practice service offerings and commercialising emerging opportunities, all underpinned with deep decarbonisation subject matter expertise. You will be recognised amongst your peers and industry as being the go-to for complex decarbonisation solutions across a range of industries, including the ability to harness AI and other technological advancements.

The environment is hands on requiring the successful candidate to contribute skills and experience across a wide range of tasks as you’d expect in the growth phase of a consulting practice.

Required Skills and Proficiencies

We are looking for someone highly competent at Principal level who can make the step change with ease to Global Practice Lead within a relatively short period of time.

To be considered key experience includes:

• 10+ years minimum in climate change or decarbonisation consulting or in-house roles in supply chain, procurement, or related fields.
• Expertise in Scope 3 emissions reduction, carbon accounting, and economic modelling.
• Strong commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience advising C-suite and boards.
• Proven leadership capabilities and a track record of driving business growth.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and present information in a highly sophisticated and polished manner.
